SBHCA Meeting Notes 05/20/26
Open with Prayer: President Hilton
Introduced Speaker: SGT Tich Cushenberry “Community Care Unit”
The Community Care Unit supports Richmond residents in functions such as:
Community Youth Crime Prevention, Homeless Outreach, Homicide Support Reset, Mental Health Services and Scams for the elderly, Ride along with Police. The Community Care Unit also provides group presentations on what to look out for (if stopped by police).
Mr. Hilton updated us on a plan the City of Richmond is trying to pass Project 300. The developers are going to re-zone Richmond so they can build homes in duplexes rather than individual family dwellings. We have two council people that will vote no. Currently, we need three more council votes to stop this plan. Investigate this Project 300.
There will be a Veterans Walk on Saturday May 30th Calling for all veterans, service members, and families. Walk 4K begins at 7:30am. Walkers should preregister. Go to this website www.MRCClub.com or call 804-665-5163 for more information.
Our team wants to focus on Back-to-School function. Location will be on Miller Ave between 2000-2100 blocks. The date will be in August; no specific date is set.
Next a food drive. Please bring perishable items to our next meeting on June 17th. Jenna will organize this project.
There are funds the City Of Richmond can help our organization. We will contact
Councilwoman Jones to retrieve information on how this works.
